Background
Mid-States Equipment is a partner and installer of Gates hydraulic hoses in Medford, Wisconsin.
Challenge
Design a vehicle wrap for Mid-States mobile installation vans.
When designing wraps there are many unique challenges because it is has 4 sides that all connect in a 3-dimensional format. Every corner junction has to be considered. There is also a left and right side that can look weird if the graphics are pointed in the opposite direction of travel. Then you have to work around windows, door handles, lights, bumpers and wheel wells.
Solution
I started out by purchasing a scaled line drawing template of this particular Nissan van. Then I collected a variety of illustrations and ultimately chose interesting ones that would look good in a large format on the sides and back. The van needed to be co-branded (Mid-States and Gates) with fairly equal weight given to each brand, even though the main focus was Mid-States. The logos looked a bit awkward next to each other though, so I separated them on all panels except for the back. The end result is eye-catching while showing and telling what they do with basic contact information.
