Background
Liquid Sky has three related products that help simplify rigging the lines on power kites. The TimeManager is their most recent innovation.
Challenge
The product had been tested and was ready to go to market, but they needed a way to package it and make it easily displayed in retail outlets. It also needed to match existing branding and advertising campaigns that had been run for the first two products within the product line. Cost per unit was also a consideration in designing the packaging.
Solution
The existing branding and advertising were taken into account and distilled down to their essence. Note that the product itself is small at about 1″ diameter by 3″ wide. Most retailers have very limited space, so a small package that only took up one metal slider rod was ideal. Using die cut card stock for the top section and a standardized plastic bag for the bottom was the most cost effective packaging. The clear plastic bag contained the product and displayed it well.
